Absolutely loved our first visit, cant believe we never tried it before. Great quality food, excellent atmosphere, super clean place and super friendly staff! Definitely NOT The Varsity, like I expected, and while the service was fast I wouldnt categorize this place as just another 'fast food' joint. Looking forward to next time :)
This diner has history. You walk in and you can feel it. Sitting on the covered deck, I was able to listen to the sounds of the city and the musical birds in the nearby trees, with an occasional light breeze. Very comfortable. I had a chocolate shake, hand-spun, perfectly blended. A cheese burger with grilled onions, which had just the right amount of grease, and chili cheese fries, which had a ton of cheese and chili. The waitress, Rachel, was cordial and full of southern hospitality, just a pleasure to be around, had great energy. I will definitely be returning anytime I have a hankering for a burger and shake.
Great chili dog, fries and frosted orange. Not the Varsity but they are Top Shelf. We wouldn't hesitate to take company.
Collegiate Grill, how I love your chili slaw dogs! The soft grilled bun with crispy edges, the crunchy slaw and salty chili and a perfectly grilled dog is just a treat. I also adore your fries. Not the standard crinkle cut for you, no, these are delicious fries with a little skin on - with ketchup, Awesome with a capital A! We usually grab our food to go or eat it one of the lovely little tables right outside but I love the makeover too, y'all!! Your diner looks beautiful. Thanks for doing what it takes to be a local favorite!
Good old fashioned burger and fries. Fresh hamburger and toppings. Home fries cooked just right. Prices are on the upper side for the fare, but because of the quality, worth the value.
My family and I were in the area after an outing. We did a simple best hamburger near me search and Collegiate popped up. Since my kids love diners we gave it a shot. And we are super glad we did. The food and service were both excellent. Best cheeseburgers we have eaten in a while. Having 4 kids and no crumb was left behind should be enough to let you know what you need to know. It was also under 60 which is impossible these days. Will be making the 30 min drive to come back.
This place is a Gainesville staple. I have been eating here since I was a kid. Delicious food and awesome atmosphere. You walk in and it takes you to a simpler time. Simply put, the place is a vibe.
This 1950's diner in Gainesville is the real deal. It's a better burger than any chain at twice, three times the price. They are only open for lunch. The service is fast and accurate. I'll try the shake next time.
